Turkish & Balkan Yataghan sword, dated 1267 = 1850.

An Ottoman Turkish sword Yataghan with gilt mounts dated 1267. The blade is cut with narrow fullers and with ribs along the back edge and has extensive silver damascened inscriptions "We Seek Intercession of Prophet Mohammed" "This sword belongs to Mohamed Agha" "God willed it” including the date A.H. 1267 and "I Put My Trust in Allah" The gilt copper bolsters and gripstrap are chased in relief with raised studs. Large two pieces of walrus handle, typical bow ears. Contained in its black leather covered scabbard with gilt mounts chased with flowering foliage. Blade length - 60cm. Overall length 75cm.
