Early 19th Century Ottoman Empire Shamshir Sword,the 81cm. Damascus blade is a shamshir blade called Sham, which means ‘Syrian’ in Arabic, and which is the name given to the streaky Damascus pattern showing on blade. Length of sword including handle 95cm. With solid silver mounted and leather scabbard. The silver mounts on the scabbard are marked possibly with the Tughra mark of Sultan Mahmud 2nd (1808-1839)
