British 1850 Royal Engineers Driver’s Sword used in the Crimean War.
The sword was actually manufactured by Schnitzler & Kirschbaum for the Prussian Guard Hussar Regiment. A Prussian cavalry sword used in British service. These were purchased by the War Department and used in the Crimean War by Royal Engineers.The blade is marked with British Army issue and sold out of service marks - there are also German issue stamps dated to 1850 and Frederick William IV of Prussia to the blade spine. Blade length is 81 cm. Overall length is 102 cm.
