A BRITISH 1796 HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD.
A British Pattern 1796 Heavy Cavalry Trooper's Sword by Thomas Gill of Birmingham. Broad, straight 87.5 cm blade, maker's name "T. Gill" stamped on spine, proof mark "Crown over 4" stamped upper blade near guard. Overall length is 102 cm. Regulation steel hilt with ribbed leather-covered grip, steel, two-ring scabbard. Nicks along the edge of the blade and scabbard has a 1 ½" seam crack. Otherwise, a Very Fine sword.
